7 Ways to Cope with Food and Calories During the Holidays

  • Create a menu for the whole month of December that is under 500 calories per meal.
  • Add comfort food to days you find stressful.
  • For the holiday month, focus on keeping your calories even with your energy.  Do not worry about the nutrient level of the calories you are eating at parties and festival events.
  • Keep your morning calories low and exercise levels higher in the morning.  We have found that lower morning calories kept overall calorie consumption lower.
  • Test what foods you can eat without overeating. Restrict foods that exceed your calorie budget.
  • Add an hour walk to your daily routine.  Your walk can be meandering around the house or running an errand for the holidays.
  • Holiday clean your home.  By cleaning and sorting your home each day before the big holidays, you will not be stress cleaning for company.
